The trenchcoat look is back this season, and perfect for the not so cold and rainy weather. For those who live in rainy cities like London, you actually always have a trench and raincoat, but of course keeping a trendy and up to date cut is important. Now you can either wear the trench as a coat or a dress, and the best part about it is that this look started appearing in spring 2010 but it also appeared in Spring 2011 NY Fashion week with designers like Rachel Roy. So now you can even take an old trench, cut up the sleeves (of course at a tailor if you are the scissors happy type), slim the waist, and a belt from the same fabric, and have it ready for Spring of next year. Here is a look at some of the trenchcoat dresses already available now;

Quick Press: Miley Cyrus Leather Dress: What you think? + Check out Marks&Spencer Spring/Summer 2010 Campaign
On March 26th, Miley Cyrus showed up for her movie premiere “The Last Song” in a leather dress, feminine and edgy at the same time… I like this look, the dress on her says that she is choosing more feminine looks for the red carpet…. But what you think?
Also Check out Marks&Spencer recent campaign with VV Brown, Dannii Minogue, Lisa Snowdon, Ana Beatriz Barros and Twiggy for Spring/Summer 2010. They are doing quite a good job for an old British house brand… Nice campaign, looks like M&S has become more fashion since I last visited the UK
Go to http://www.marksandspencer.com/ to see more, interviews, back stage interviews…
PS: M&S ships to 80 countries if you are interested.
Are you into the ‘futuristic-Rihanna-Gaga’ look but just a bit softer and simpler, then maybe you might like Aqua Couture. If you are already familiar with this British Retail brand, then you already know that the style is definitely attention grabbing. The brand started in 1999 by Julie Lingard, with a concept of giving new talent a place to design and produce work that would be unique to the brand. They have stores in Leeds and on Carnaby Street, London (UK), with futures stores opening globally.
Although the style is ‘different’, it is definitely recognizable once you take a look at all their designs. Money wise, well if you get paid in pounds Aqua is on the not too too expensive side, but if you get paid in $, well you might just have to pay a bit more $$$. Most of the prices range from 70 to 200 (GB pounds) that is about $120 to $320, plus their online store also accepts Euros and Australian Dollars and ships internationally. I say you can always wait for sales ;-p
You can purchase most of their looks on asos.com (this might actually be easier if you already have an account with asos) or you can also go to their website at www.aquacouture.co.uk. Also check out their Spring 2010 look book, the concept behind the brand, and also news about future international stores openings on their website.
Here are some of their pret-a-porter looks available on asos and on their website (click on picture to go directly to site):
I have recently fallen in love with Rachel Roy’s designs, and I am so happy that they (specifically the Rachel Rachel Roy collection) are still available at Macy’s, because I have not had the chance to try them on and see how they would look on me. I usually have an issue fitting things around my hips, so we will see. But I have a feeling that they will look great. Roy is very beautiful and yet appears to be quite a strong person, and her designs seem to really reflect who she is. In other words, you can easily take a quick look at her and her designs, and see that the designs are like an extension of herself. Also, she wears her designs quite often, and always looks very ladylike. Ok enough with the “she’s beautiful” speech. Plus, Rachel Roy is also involved in charitable work especially with orphans in Africa, and who wouldn’t find that great?!
Many of her pieces would complete a woman’s wardrobe, and give them ‘versatile and special every day to evening’ looks. Her younger looks are also very interesting, which is why someone like me would really be attracted to them. She also has done recent work with graffiti on her designs including outerwear, shoes, and bags.
She recently had a sweepstake of $1000 worth of Rachel Roy designs plus a chance of being styled by her…. I did not win (boo hoooo) how sad but then again there were about 2000 entries. But I encourage anyone to check out her line, and if you have twitter follow her she has pretty interesting posts. Check out her line online at rachelroy.com for prices and shopping online.
Before I speak about the fashion show, I will mention that my feet had a good time walking in my new Zara shoes (from my aunt), they look good and they are comfortable, I walked a distance in them so if you like Zara and a different look, check them out at a Zara near you.
So Back to our regular schedule 😉 ………………
I just left a Fashion Show called “The Perfect Muse” by Gregory Fritz LaPlanche, at Morton on Boylston street (Boston). I met up with a classmate and an old friend from MiddleSchool/high school, ready to see some exciting fashion!!! The atmosphere was very intimate with not too too many people, which also meant that we got to see the pieces up close. After waiting for about half an hour, the show finally started. Most of the pieces were long dresses, mainly gowns in a soft pink almost nude color, with character. The dresses were feminine, romantic, and flattering to a woman’s body. They had soft ruffles/layering, interesting geometric and intricate forms, with a few black zippers and fuschia organza, satin, and lace elements. Overall, I liked the show I thought the designer did a good job, but I wish they were more pieces, also there were only a few dresses that I felt I wanted. I also loved the music which very ‘French’ with songs like Joe Le Taxi by Vanessa Paradis, it was like flashback to 90’s French pop music, loved it!! The only thing is I wish the designer actually came out to talk more about his inspiration and what he was trying to achieve, since I am assuming most of us are not familiar with him… He was so shy, he literally ran away while people were trying to drag him back into the show room. Funny!! and oh his brother (I’m guessing) or somebody who knew him, was a little obnoxious making funny comments and posing for the camera!! Too funny!!
Here are some of the pictures from the show, sorry folks if they are not excellent/clear pictures.
So there are so many cute, interesting, and also affordable items on Asos.com right now, and I thought I should post about it. I was introduced by a friend to Asos.com and loved it, they have different looks, usually designer inspired and they are most of the time affordable, especially when on sale. I am reassured because if London/UK chicas are shopping online at asos, then their items must be nice. It is always a good idea to wait for their sales, and oohhh a tip when you go to asos.com, watch out for a quick message that pops up before the actual website shows up, because it usually gives a free shipping or discount code, Be quick and watch out for it.
Check out some of their items:
If you are one the many women who have been dying to get their hands on a Herve Leger dress for the past two years, since the designer’s band dresses have been seen on almost every one from TV to magazines, then you may be able to now; just be ready to pay some $400+ (for the ballers that is :-o) on sale instead of the usual $900+ price.
The dresses are on sale at Hautelook.com, a fashion retail website that deals in selling designers/brands on large discounts. I do not think this sale is exceptional, but a sale is a sale, I know someone out there will be happy about the price.
Tah Tah 😉
